Dorian / Kaunas

  • Nacionalinis Kauno dramos teatras (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Painter Francis Bacon catches George Dyer red-handed breaking into his artist studio. Instead of calling the police, he paints his portrait. The two become a couple. - Painter Basil Hallward is obsessed with his model Dorian Gray. Gray wishes the painting would age instead of him. - Poet Oscar Wilde is the darling of London Society - until he is sent to prison for "indecent relations" with his lover Alfred Douglas.

Darryl Pinckney's text and Robert Wilson’s production of Dorian weave these three stories into an associative narrative flow, overlapping memories, reflections and feelings.

Performed in Lithuanian with English surtitles.

Gloria / Paris (Sound installation)

Gloria is an immersive 360° sound artwork created by Robert Wilson for Sainte Chapelle, with music by Richard Landry. The installation consists of fifteen speakers, positioned at various locations in the iconic Parisian cathedral. A new software developed by Amadeus and IRCAM, integrating several reverberation and spatialization techniques, allows this "secular mass," in which a child, a woman and a man respond to each other with short excerpts from "De Rerum Natura" by the Latin philosopher Lucretius, to occupy and structure the space in a new way. The voices, together with the music of Richard Landry, resonate in the space of the upper chapel. Gloria echoes the stained glass windows of Sainte Chapelle: the birth of the world, the course of the sun, the soul, the body, the void, and the relationship of humans to the universe, to nature.

The installation can be viewed by pre-booking a time slot at 9:30 AM, 10:30 AM, 12:30 PM, 1:30 PM, 2:30 PM, or 4 PM. Each visit lasts for about 30 minutes.

Relative Calm / Toulouse

  • théâtre Garonne Scène européenne (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Lucinda Childs and Robert Wilson revive their work Relative Calm (Strasbourg, 1981) and extend it into a triptych that includes the two choreographies from the original (music by John Adams and John Gibson), and a new creation on the music of Pulcinella by Igor Stravinsky.

The project stars members of the new Roman dance company MP3, directed by Michele Pogliani, as well as the PMCE Parco della Musica Contemporanea Ensemble, directed by Tonino Battista.

"The whole show, in its three symmetrical parts will be like a clock that measures time, like the succession of the hours of the day." (Robert Wilson)
