Founded in 1992 by Robert Wilson, The Watermill Center is an interdisciplinary laboratory for the arts and humanities situated on ten acres of Shinnecock ancestral territory on Long Island’s East End, offering year-round artist residencies and education programs. With an emphasis on creativity and collaboration, Watermill integrates contemporary artistic practice with resources from the humanities and research from the sciences to provide a global community with the time, space and freedom to create and inspire.

the BODY: The Watermill Center Annual Summer Benefit - A celebration of art that will center on the body's role in art making.

The 2023 Summer Benefit will introduce UBU directed by Robert Wilson — originally presented at the Es Baluard Museum in Palma de Mallorca, Spain — and 19 artist installations and exhibitions including Regina José Galindo's "The Body," Alessandro di Pietro's "Ghostwriting Paul Thek: Time Capsules and Reliquaries," with a performance by Ola Maciejewska. This year the Watermill Center will be honoring American artist Simone Forti and the late philanthropist, Baroness Nina von Maltzahn. The evening welcomes 500+ distinguished guests from the worlds of art, performance, theater, fashion, film, and more and is an international celebration of art in support of the organization's year-round programming.

Described as “an enchanted forest” and ”performance art extravaganza,” the Annual Summer Benefit unites the worlds of art, theatre, design, and fashion to raise funds in support of our year-round programming. This summer, invited artists will fill The Watermill Center’s property with installations for guests to explore while enjoying cocktails and refreshments across our scenic campus. The Watermill Center’s Winter Gala / New York

The Watermill Center Winter Gala is an intimate evening hosted by Robert Wilson in the private dining room of Legacy Records in NYC’s Hudson Yards neighborhood. This celebration of our Artists-in-Residence and the 2019 season features a 4-course dinner by Chef Ryan Hardy and a special performance by an artist from our international community.

All proceeds benefit our year-round Artist Residency and Education Programs, enabling us to continue to support an international group of artists and visionaries throughout the year.

Tours of The Center and The Watermill Collection will take place throughout the day. You will be able to see open rehearsals of selected upcoming productions directed by Robert Wilson.

Discover Watermill Day 2014 / Water Mill

Discover Watermill is a unique opportunity to meet artists from over 30 countries all participating in The Watermill Centers' International Summer Program. Tours of the Center, Robert Wilson's Watermill Collection, and the six acres of beautifully landscaped grounds featuring outdoor sculptures and artifacts will take place throughout the day. Enter the grounds through the formal entrance on Water Mill Towd Road and enjoy many of the installations and performances created for "One Thousand Nights and One Night | Sleepless Nights of Sheherazade," the 21st Annual Watermill Center Summer Benefit on July 26th.

Admission is free and open to the public
