Pushkin wrote the Fairy Tales at his country home Boldino between 1830 and 1834. The tales' sources vary from Russian folklore themes to Western tales. Written in verse, a humourous narrator alternates with dialogue of the characters. Rich symbolism and enigmatic structures and powerful imagery are central characteristics of these works. Robert Wilson’s new production will feature original music by indiepop duo CocoRosie, who collaborated with Wilson on Peter Pan (Berlin, 2013). Evgenyi Mironov, one of Russia's most celebrated actors, will play the great Russian poet Pushkin himself.
Robert Wilson (direction, set and light design); CocoRosie (music); Nicola Panzer (co-direction); Tilman Hecker (artistic collaboration); Annick Lavallée-Benny (co-set design); Julia von Leliwa (costumes); AJ Weissbard (co-light design); Roman Dolzhanskiy (dramaturgy).
